The bunk bed has changed drastically in recent years, originally two single beds; one above the other is now just one of the many options you can choose. One of the styles’s which is relatively new, but very popular is the full size bunk bed.

What exactly is a full size bunk bed?

There are so many different designs that this is not that easy a question to answer. The only thing which all full size bunk bed designs have in common is that there are two levels and one of them will contain a full size mattress. What are the different designs available?

Two full size mattresses

This is like the traditional bunk bed design, but instead of having single beds it is two full size beds. Although it is a practical design it can may a room look crowded. Also, when you think about it, do you really need two full sized mattresses in one room?

One full size and one single mattress

This is probably a slightly prettier way to still have a full size bunk bed. The full size mattress in on the bottom and there is a single mattress on the top. The advantage of this design is that the room does not feel as crowded and more light will get to the lower mattress, so it doesn’t end up looking dark and unattractive. If you are furnishing a guest room this is a great way to be able to accommodate a one child family. Kids always love to sleep on a top bunk, and they can be put to bed at the usual time and when the parents are ready to go to sleep they can get in underneath.

Full size mattress and storage

If you are limited on space this is a great design. You basically have a full size bed on top, and you can pretty much choose your storage for underneath. The most common options are drawers. In some cases this will be the only piece of furniture you require.

Full size mattress and workstation

This is my favourite design. I think it is really attractive as well as hugely practical. There is a full size mattress on top and a work station underneath. This is also available with a single on top, but the workstation is a lot smaller. With the full size bunk bed you really do get a great space underneath. If you are looking to furnish a child’s room this is the perfect choice. It give them plenty of space and they will thoroughly enjoy being able to spread themselves out to read and revise on the top bunk, while having a place to complete all their written assignments as well.

The full size bunk bed is a great investment, you just have to choose which design will best suit both your needs and the space you have available.

If you have a good sized room and you don’t want it to look like a dormitory, but you do want lots sleeping options then you should look at the full size trundle bed designs.

Originally the trundle bed was an easy way to create extra sleeping in a kids room and was usually only for a single bed. But with so many of us trying to maximise the space we have the trundle bed has developed to accommodate our needs.

If you are furnishing a guest room then the full size bed is the best choice. It means that you can easily sleep two people, whether adults or children. If your room is big enough then you can double this capability with a full size trundle bed.

At first thought you may think that this is a little extreme, but there are some very good reasons to go this route. If you have a family coming to stay then you can actually put the parents and the kids in the same room.

There is a big advantage to accommodating a family together. Firstly, if the kids are quite young then they will be near the parents so they should sleep better, and if they are slightly nervous parents, they will be near their kids, so they should feel more comfortable as well.

The other great reason to put a family to sleep together is that many children will wake up early when they are staying in someone else house, and by having them in the same room as their parents it means that the parents will have to deal with them, and will hopefully keep them quite so that the rest of the house is not disturbed.

The full size trundle bed is designed so that when the trundle bed is not in use it will usually simply look like drawers under the bed or otherwise simply a wooden frame. They are very stylish and will enhance any room.
